  • Cost Reduction Pathway of Tidal Stream Energy in the UK and France

Cost Reduction Pathway of Tidal Stream Energy in the UK and France

Despite historically challenging headwinds, the industry has still shown significant cost reduction ability. In 2018, ORE Catapult estimated TSE levelized cost of energy (LCOE) at £300/MWh. In the UK in 2022, four projects (40.8MW) were awarded CfDs at £178/MWh, to start operation between 2025-27. This indicates an LCOE reduction exceeding 40% with little to no revenue support since 2016.

  • E.DSO Athens Declaration

    E.DSO Athens Declaration

Adopted by the Board in their last meeting, the Athens Declaration gathers in 12 points the industrial and entrepreneurial interest of leading European Distribution System Operators by seeking the consideration of the EU Council, Commission and Parliament, ACER and for the sector’s most relevant stakeholders and neighbouring energy associations representing the solar-PV, wind generation and other electric power generation technologies or vectors.

  • Coping with the Crisis: Increasing Resilience in Small Businesses in Europe through Energy Efficiency

Coping with the Crisis: Increasing Resilience in Small Businesses in Europe through Energy Efficiency

To help smaller businesses overcome these perilous challenges and to sustain European economies, the European Commission and the International Energy Agency have teamed up to raise the awareness of governments, businesses and related stakeholders about the available options to empower and protect SMEs. These include EU support measures currently available to SMEs that can be tailored to meet their specific needs. They also include steps that businesses can take themselves to use energy more efficiently and wisely, making them more resilient and secure – both in the short and in the long term.

  • Electrification with Renewables: Enhancing Healthcare Delivery in Burkina Faso

Electrification with Renewables: Enhancing Healthcare Delivery in Burkina Faso

This report draws on primary data from health-energy assessments across 40 sample health facilities in Burkina Faso, as well as key stakeholder consultations and meetings with government and external health and energy experts. The result is an effective approach to implement an energy-healthcare programme that builds and strengthens on current facilities to better integrate decentralised renewable energy solutions, and energy efficiency into healthcare provision in Burkina Faso. This will ensure their long-term sustainability and operations.

  • The Mobile Economy North America 2022

The Mobile Economy North America 2022

The US and Canada are among the global leaders in terms of 5G adoption, reflecting the ambitious 5G deployment plans of operators and a rapidly expanding device and content ecosystem. 5G will account for almost all mobile capex in the period to 2025 as operators step up deployments of mid-band spectrum, taking overall population coverage to 92% in Canada and 100% in the US by 2025. At that time, 5G will account for almost two thirds of total mobile connections across North America, which is equivalent to nearly 280 million connections.

  • The Mobile Economy Europe 2022

    The Mobile Economy Europe 2022

The majority of countries in Europe have now deployed commercial 5G services, and nearly two thirds of operators in the region have launched 5G networks. 5G adoption is gaining momentum in Europe, supported by an expanding 5G device ecosystem and strong marketing campaigns by operators. However, European markets still lag global peers such as Japan, South Korea and the US in adoption of the technology.

  • A blueprint for green networks

    A blueprint for green networks

An energy-efficient wireless network is built on site simplicity, integrated network elements, advanced passive cooling technologies and the ability to frequently harvest data from almost every part of the network and turn them into actionable insights. An energy-efficient network takes advantage of the purpose-built network elements’ improved characteristics and uses about as much energy as needed at the moment without impacting user experience. Further, frequent software updates are helping network elements to improve their energy efficiency day by day. The combination of these factors can help operators to build a future-proof, energy-efficient network that improves their overall competitiveness, satisfy their customers and is also sustainable.
