The report reviews existing and emerging low- and moderate-income (LMI) community solar programs, discusses key questions related to program design, outlines how states can leverage incentives and finance structures to lower the cost of LMI community solar, and examines marketing and outreach considerations.

Community solar has the potential to vastly increase access to solar for low- and moderate-income communities, especially for renters, but programs need to be specifically designed with those customers in mind in order to have the maximum benefit. This report can help state program officials to design effective programs.

Renewable energy employs about 32% women, compared to 22% in the energy sector overall. Still, within renewables, women’s participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) jobs is far lower than in administrative jobs.

This report from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) examines the question of gender equity throughout sector. Building on a ground-breaking survey of employees, companies and institutions, it finds that much remains to be done to boost women’s participation and allow their talents to be fully utilised.

IRENA estimates that the number of jobs in renewables could increase from 10.3 million in 2017 to nearly 29 million in 2050. The ongoing global energy transition offers the chance to create new jobs and reshape all aspects of how energy is produced and distributed.

SolarPower Europe launched its “Grid Intelligent Solar – Unleashing the Full Potential of Utility-Scale Solar Generation” report, which shows that solar is not only the lowest cost power source in many regions and crucial to meet EU climate targets, but also a reliable partner that helps to keep the grid stable and supports Europe’s security of supply.

The report was initiated by First Solar and produced by SolarPower Europe with support from BayWa, Tesla and SMA with the aim of providing facts and figures about the benefits of utilising low-cost utility scale solar to keep the European grid stable and reliable for the European Union to meet its 2030 renewable energy targets.

Many local governments have adopted community-wide goals for increasing energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This set of briefs examines three high-impact energy efficiency policies that can help cities meet these goals.

The briefs cover (1) residential energy disclosure mechanisms that add value to efficient homes, (2) commercial and multifamily energy benchmarking, transparency and labeling, and (3) technology-enabled access to transportation data to enable smarter mobility decisions and investments. Each brief features policy goals and benefits, steps for design and adoption, and case studies of local initiatives.
