Strong low-emission zone (LEZ) policies could cut fleet-wide emissions by up to 90% in Warsaw, shows a new analysis from the Real World Emissions Initiative (TRUE), ahead of the city’s forthcoming LEZ plan announcements.
A Warsaw LEZ which targets the highest emitting older vehicles could reduce fleet-average NOX and PM emissions by around 90% relative to 2023 levels by 2035, according to this new analysis.

Today we release two interactive data tools that allow users to explore developments related to low-emissions hydrogen projects worldwide. The data tools complement the Global Hydrogen Review 2023, published in September, and the updated hydrogen production and infrastructure projects databases, which were released in October.
Momentum is increasing around low-emissions hydrogen as a way to boost energy security and support decarbonisation in sectors where emissions are hard to abate and alternative solutions are either unavailable or difficult to implement, such as heavy industry and long-distance transport.

The global renewable power capacity must triple by 2030 to keep the 1.5°C target of the Paris Agreement within reach. Offshore Wind capacity would need to reach almost 500 GW in 2030, a fourteen-fold increase in comparison to 2020. Innovation is crucial to develop new foundations for turbines far off the coast or boost sector coupling. A joint study published today by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the European Patent Office (EPO) assesses patent statistics to reveal the most recent technological trends that have been taking place in the offshore wind industry. The Offshore Wind Energy Patent Insights Report shows that between 2002-2022 patent filings for offshore wind technologies have grown on average by 18%. This growth stagnated between 2014-2017 but, in recent years, has witnessed a sharp increase in filings.

With abundant renewable energy potential and ambitious target to achieve 80 per cent of renewables share in the power generation by 2038, Honduras is already on the right path to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels. The Renewables Readiness Assessment: Honduras by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) identifies the need to have current energy laws enforced with regulations and implementation mechanism to accelerate the country’s energy transition.
As one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change consequences in Latin America, Honduras faces the urgent need to reduce its CO2 emissions with increased use of renewables. Until recently, hydropower generation has been contributing the largest share to the renewable energy mix, but production faces more challenges due to alterations in climatic patterns. Honduras’ economy is also at risk as it relies on forestry, agriculture and fishing industries – all susceptible to adverse climate-related events.

Muchas empresas tienen planes para fabricar hidrógeno, pero muchas menos están entusiasmadas por comprarlo. Según un estudio de BloombergNEF, sólo el 10% de la capacidad de producción de hidrógeno limpio prevista para 2030 tiene comprador. BNEF lanzó una base de datos de acuerdos de compra de hidrógeno que rastrea 149 acuerdos de compra de hidrógeno limpio y derivados.
Según la base de datos de BNEF, sólo el 13% del volumen contratado (o 1 millón de toneladas métricas/año) es vinculante. Otro 7% son acuerdos precontractuales con grandes posibilidades de convertirse en contratos vinculantes. El 80% restante son memorandos de entendimiento o no especificados. Estos acuerdos pueden tardar en ser vinculantes, si es que llegan a serlo.
