The Barcelona Digital City Plan 2017-2020, aimed at driving technological sovereignty and fostering an inclusive digital economy, has prompted a number of notable initiatives to address critical urban challenges such as affordable housing and sustainability.
The digitization of diverse administrative procedures, the outline of directives for transparent procurement and digital infrastructures, as well as opening city data to local companies through a blockchain-based platform supports the objective of rethinking the smart city to better respond the citizens’ needs and achieve a more “open, equitable, circular and democratic city.”
